WV Consumer Credit and Protetion Act - Credit Debt Collector calls

Most people know that if they decide to use credit cards or some other form of a credit to purchase consumer goods (TVs, cameras, cars, electronics, bikes, etc.) then they are well aware they will be charged interest. But the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act also covers medical debt. Have you found yourself with a mountain of medical debt?

Most people are also aware that if they are late paying the monthly minimum charges that collectors will begin to call. When unforeseen events occur and your financial stability is shaken, it may be difficult every month to make those timely credit payments. The West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act defines unfair trade practices and various types of communications and practices that collectors are prohibited from using.

You have rights. If a collector is calling at odd hours or using threatening and harassing tactics, or threatening arrest, garnishment of wages (without already having first obtained a lawful court judgment), or publishing to third parties your debts, then you should speak with an attorney. Did the creditor use trickery or did they fail to disclose fees or interest rates from you? The collectors may be found to have used unfair trade practices to which your debts may be forgiven, penalties assessed, and attorney fees paid.

Unscrupulous collectors will use every trick or ruse known to them in order to extract payment from you; we know how to protect you from such practices.
