I spent my youth in the coalfields of Man, WV playing sports and fishing the streams and rivers of Southern West Virginia. I attended Man High School then Marshall University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I was active in various student organizations.

After making lifelong friends at Marshall, I continued my education in Morgantown, WV at our flagship West Virginia University, College of Law. I obtained my Juris Doctorate then subsequently was admitted to the WV State Bar. I remain an active member in good standing and serve as a Board Member on the Board of Directors for the Logan County Charitable and Educational Foundation a 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization in Logan, WV.
I serve on various other boards and committees and attend Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church in Man, WV with my wife Kayla and son Sawyer and daughter Laney.
